At Tork, our mission is to make hygiene away from home more sustainable. This is how we address important sustainability topics, such as responsible fiber sourcing and lowering the carbon footprint of our products.

Essity's journey to net zero

Essity is committed to develop targets to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 at the latest.

Science-based Targets

Since December 2018 our targets for CO2-reduction have been approved by Science Based Targets. Goals include absolute targets for energy, electricity, transport, raw materials, suppliers and waste.

Essity has also committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from purchased key raw materials, transport, waste generated in operations and end-of-life treatment of sold products by 18% by 2030 (2016) and reducing greenhouse gas emissions with 25% by 2030 (base year 2016) for energy use within the company and purchased electricity (scope 1 and 2).

FSC

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is a third-party independent certification for responsibly sourced wood and wood fiber materials such as pulp. FSC bears the highest recognition among forest certification.

Certified Compostable

Many of our products are certified compostable by third-party entities. All of our Universal and Advanced Tork napkins, including custom print, are certified as compostable in municipal or industrial aerobic facilities.

Green Seal

Green Seal™ establishes environmental, health, and social requirements for products such as bathroom tissue, paper towels and napkins for both institutional and retail markets.

ECOLOGO

ECOLOGO^® certifies commercial and household toilet and facial tissue, napkins, and hand and kitchen towel products under UL 175 Sanitary Paper Standards for an overall reduced environmental impact.
